Top 5 food trucks in NYC

With the proliferation of the food truck phenomenon upon us, it’s time to examine the top 5 food trucks that grace our fine streets and serve up the good stuff.  First of all, trucks that were storefronts first, then trucks such as Crisp (@crisponwheels), Chinese Mirch (@Chinesemirch) and Celebrity Chef trucks like (@NowEatThisTruck) from Rocco DiSpirito do not get the nod here.  This spot is reserved for food trucks that are doing it the hard way and the right way.

#5  Uncle Gussy's Truck (@UncleGussys) - 1 Truck at Park Ave and 51st Street

This truck has been serving up the good Greek stuff since 1971.  They are the OGs of food truckery in NYC, and we are throwing them mad respect for their amazing deals on Souvlaki and Gyros which can rival Greek food anywhere.  Be sure to order like a pro, "Greek Style," "The Works." If you don't know how to order just sneak a peek at the side of the truck before you get up to the window and order like an insider.
Insider Tip:  The French fries are surprisingly good and well seasoned.  Follow Uncle Gussy’s Truck on twitter for updates on when they have Flank Steak. Opa!!!

#4 Valducci's Pizza (@Valduccis) -1 Truck (Park and 52nd from 11-4 & 24th and 6th Ave. from 6p.m.-10p.m.)
The Sicilian slice is ok, so are the meatball and the ricotta slices.  But there is one slice that stands alone in this Pizza truck, an unassuming slice that will make me question my childhood favorite and the common Brooklyn wisdom that L&B Spumoni Garden has the best square slice in town.  This slice is the Vodka Slice.  Trust me when I say, “You won’t regret it1’

# 3 Cool Haus (@CoolHaus) - 3 Trucks on the move
These ain't your childhood chocolate or vanilla ice cream sandwiches. With ice cream flavors like "Beer and Pretzels," "Candied Bacon" and "Spicy Pineapple & Cilantro," you would think the flavor combos could not get more creative...but you would be wrong. Add insane cookies with flavors like "Ginger Molasses," "Potato Chip & Butterscotch" & "Hotcake Cookie" and you’re past flavor-town and headed into the flavor stratosphere.

#2 Van Leeuwen (@VLAIC) - Multiple Trucks and 3 Stores

Have you ever had Hagen Das Ice Cream and thought, “Wow this stuff is the best!?”  If you have, then you have never, EVER had Van Leeuwen.  Using only the finest organic ingredients, it is ice cream perfection for ice cream purists and connoisseurs.  The Van Leeuwen Ice Cream experience is one that no ice cream lover should miss!

Insider Tip: Try the pistachio ice cream... It's life changing... No, seriously...Try it!

#1
Korilla BBQ (@korillaBBQ) - Multiple Trucks

The original in Korean/Mexican fusion BBQ.  Kimchi bacon rice? Ribeye Bulgogi? Diakon in a burrito or spicy pork with K-Illa Hot sauce..... UHHHH YEAH.  These burritos, taco's and rice bowls are on par with some of the best Korean food in NYC.  With a huge following that would make every other food truck blush as red as their Kimichi, this truck knows how to serve up the good stuff.  The line usually spans around the corner, but one bite of their masterful creations and you will know why everyone is waiting on line.

Insider Tip:  You don't have to go overboard and get everything. All the combinations are good, it’s a can’t miss home run no matter what or how you order it.  Try different sauces and combinations of protein and fixing's.  It’s all pretty outstanding!
